How we calculate your leak
Fuel burnt idling
Vehicles, times the hours each one idles a day, times 1.8 litres an hour, times your fuel price. We then multiply by 5 days a week and 52 weeks.
Time spent ringing drivers
The hours a week you spend on the phone to drivers, times $54.83 an hour, times 52 weeks. The hourly cost is the Australian Bureau of Statistics average full-time weekly earnings of $2,083.70, divided by a 38-hour week.
Monthly and yearly figures
Each monthly figure is the yearly figure divided by 12. The total adds the two leaks together.
Your fuel bill
Vehicles, times kilometres a week, times fuel use per 100 km, times your fuel price, times 52 weeks. We use it only for the fuel saving in the examples.
Private use
If staff use the vehicles privately, we list FBT logbooks by hand but never add them to the total, because we found no published time or tax rate to price them.
What we assume
We assume each vehicle runs 5 days a week. That is our assumption, not a published figure. Your own pattern may differ.
