Yes. IntelliTrac GPS trackers and the driver app feed the same fleet map, vehicle history, bookings and reports. Use trackers for continuous vehicle tracking and richer vehicle data, with phone GPS where trip locations are enough. When both report for the same vehicle, IntelliTrac uses the device data and prevents duplicate journeys.
Different tracking sources, one fleet map
A fleet can use IntelliTrac trackers in its service vehicles and phone GPS for occasional business trips in employee-owned cars. Both appear in the same GPS tracking software, so fleet managers can see locations, review journeys and compare vehicle use without switching systems.
Which vehicles should have trackers?
IntelliTrac's plug-in and installed GPS tracking devices provide continuous tracking independently of the driver's phone. Device options include engine data, driver identification and video for fleets that need more than trip locations.
Phone GPS suits vehicles where active-trip location is enough, or provides trip visibility while devices are being fitted. It requires the driver app to be running and does not supply ignition or engine data. The phone and device comparison explains the differences.
What happens if both sources report?
Each journey shows whether its tracking came from a device or the driver app. If both report for the same vehicle, IntelliTrac uses the device data because it is connected to the vehicle and provides more detail. The system prevents duplicate journeys.
Can phone tracking cover a staged installation?
Yes. The software can go live while devices are fitted across your depots. Phone-tracked trips and later device-tracked journeys stay in the same vehicle history. You can choose the trackers you need from the start, with phone GPS covering the installation period where it suits your fleet.
